Taking serious cognizance of the industrial houses rampantly
violating environmental norms and releasing untreated hazardous chemical waste
into rivers, district guardian minister Ramdas Kadam has asked the Maharashtra
Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to submit a detailed report in this regard
within the next two days. The regional office of the MPCB was left
red faced after the city police busted a huge racket in February wherein
untreated chemical hazardous waste was rampantly released into the fresh water
stream of Kham, a river flowing on the outskirts of the city.
