Tapping e-waste treatment options outside State

Fed up with the lagging measures of the local self-government institutions here to set up sufficient number of treatment plants to recycle plastic and electronic waste, nearly 35 residents associations in the city have come together to make use of the same facilities available in other States and treat the wastes without waiting for any governmental intervention. Hundreds of urban families attached to these associations now collect the e-waste and other non-degradable stuff at a common spot and later move them to the recycling plants located at Erode in Tamil Nadu and Mandya in Karnataka with the support of local junk dealers.
