An NGT bench headed by chairperson Justice Swatanter
Kumar on Monday discussed various measures to deal with air pollution. Though
it accepted transport ministry's application, the tribunal raised concerns
about the existing system of issuing pollution under control (PUC)
certificates. Kumar cited the example of a person who procured the PUC
certificate for three years without getting his vehicle tested. The bench said
it would hear the issue of vehicular emissions and pollution from waste burning
separately.
