There is a clamour to
incorporate electronic waste in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India
Mission). The menace of e-waste has grown alarmingly in the last few years,
with the increasing use of computers, cell phones and other electrical gadgets.
Globally, around 48 million tonne of e-waste is generated every year, according
to data provided by Solving The E-waste Problem (STEP). In India, this figure
is about 1.2 million tonne, as per a study conducted by the Central Pollution
Control Board (CPCB).
