While it is the responsibility of a municipal corporation to publish the city Environment Status Report (ESR) every year before July 31, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will miss the deadline for the second consecutive year. This year too, NMC has not even initiated the process to study Nagpur city's environment status, confirmed a source in NMC. The civic body had skipped conducting the ESR for 2015-2016 and submitted the 2014-2015 report at its general body meeting in September last year. An official from NMC admitted that the previous ESR had flaws, and added the private firm, which prepared the report, has been asked to do the ESR again.
