NGT bans dumping of waste, debris in Pauri forest

Source: Times of India, Date: , 2014

In a major triumph for green activists, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has banned all non-forest activities in Manda Khal and Gadoli Khal forest regions in Pauri. The sites were being used for dumping municipal waste and debris by stone-crushers. On a petition against the Uttarakhand government, NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar ordered permanent closure of the hot mix plants and activities by the stone-crushers operating in the forest area with immediate effect.
