City corporation plans pyrolysis plants to recycle plastic waste

Source: Times of India, Date: , 2019

After streamlining waste collection in the city to an extent through the decentralized solid waste management (SWM) system, Trichy City Corporation has chalked out a plan to set up decentralized pyrolysis plant (a closed process of decomposing materials at high temperature) in the city. Each of the four zones of the corporation may get a pyrolysis plant, which will convert plastic waste into industrial oil and charcoal for reuse. The civic body will study the working of the state’s first pyrolysis plant set up in Chengalpattu municipality to emulate the same in the city.
