Toxic air chokes Ghaziabad, named as India's most polluted city

Source: Daily Mail, Ghaziabad, July 9, 2017:- Uttar Pradesh metropolis, Ghaziabad, has won the dubious distinction of being labelled the most toxic city in India. The Central Pollution Control Board of India (CPCB) has announced the list of the most polluted cities in the country.  And the Uttar Pradesh metropolis, Ghaziabad, was named the worst of the lot, while national capital Delhi was placed fourth.  In fact, seven cities in the top 10 list are in UP alone, including Allahabad, Bareilly, Kanpur, Ferozabad and Agra. CPCB has revealed that particulate matter (PM) 10 — which is generated by construction dust and sand grains blowing from nearby desert areas — has steadily increased in 94 cities in India.
