Source: The Times of India, Coimbatore, April, 2017 :- Locals were in for a rude shock when they witnessed thick layers of foam formed on the canal near the Athupalam crematorium in the city on Sunday morning. This causes a lot of skin problems for the residents in the locality. Moreover, these effluents also enter into the ground contaminating the groundwater. The only solution for this is to stop sewage from being diverted into waterbodies and water channels," said Vanitha Mohan, managing trustee, Siruthuli, environmental NGO.
