Showcase workshops under Microsoft Create to Inspire School Program

Source: Toxics Link, Date: , 2014

Toxics Link under the “Microsoft Create to Inspire School Program” conducted a Showcase Workshop in November in two cities: Noida and Ghaziabad. This program aims at ‘Sustainable living and Consumption’ in our daily lives. The implementation model comprises of a set of 14 toolkits (for students) on the themes of Biodiversity, E-waste, Urban Transportation, Energy and Water, with each having a set of exercises to be conducted at home, school and out of school.  Most toolkits are ‘step outside the classroom’ exercises that engage students practically and creatively.

The workshops particularly focused at sharing of best practices, initiate peer learning and to discuss queries and challenges faced by schools. They witnessed teachers’ presentations on the implementation of the program in their schools, and students’ performances like skits, street plays on the themes of Biodiversity, Electricity Conservation and Waste Management. The teachers were also involved in the workshop with energizing games on sustainable living and the idea of ‘peer learning’ being organized. The two workshops concluded successfully with each one going back with more ideas and enthusiasm to complete the remaining toolkits.
