Students’ Workshop on Mercury

Source: Toxics Link, Date: , 2014

Toxics Link conducted a workshop on bio-medical waste for students on 14 July, 2014 at Mira Public School, Janak Puri, New Delhi. The workshop aimed at making students aware on the use of mercury and its health hazards, and also making them realize the urgency of taking remedial action at home and school. Students from 11th and 12th standard from all the streams - including science, arts and commerce, participated in the workshop. During the workshop, a documentary titled "Mission Mercury Free" was shown, which showcased the dangers of using mercury and its remedial actions. Thereafter the students were briefly explained about the use of mercury, the diseases that are caused by it, and how mercury use can be reduced. The workshop ended with queries from students and a short quiz.
