If a ban on plastic was enforced
in government offices in to, it would cost lakhs of rupees to the exchequer, as
most items of stationery and accessories, barring furniture, may have to be
replaced with either paper or metallic items. The government had agreed to a
ban during a meeting of Goa state environment protection council in June 2015,
but the environment department is moving cautiously on it due to practical
problems and considering phased implementation of realistic aspects and
promotion of reusable material.
