Felicitation event ‘Microsoft GIZ Create to Inspire school programme’ in Kolkata

Source: Toxics Link, Date: , 2015

Toxics Link felicitated 52 schools for their efforts to save the environment at an event organized at Binodini Girls' High School, Kolkata on 29th September 2015. This was a part of the series of programmes that are jointly being organized by Toxics Link, Microsoft and GIZ under the banner “Create to Inspire School Program”. Skits, dance-drama, recitation and songs on various environmental issues such as energy conservation, water, tree, waste management, etc. were performed by the students during the event. The event was concluded by requesting teachers and students to continue all their efforts in schools and in their daily lives to save the environment.

Here it may be noted that Microsoft “Create to Inspire” is an innovative school programme designed to build the capacity of teachers and students on sustainable lifestyle and environment. Through this programme schools work closely with their neighbouring communities to address concerns relating to waste management, energy, water conservation, etc. In Kolkata the programme was launched in February this year in 100 schools with support from Office of the District Inspector (DI) – Secondary Education, Kolkata (under Department of Education, Government of West Bengal).
