Workshop & Consultation on Phasing out Mercury from Dental Sector!

Toxics Link organized a half day “Awareness Workshop & Stakeholder Consultation” on phasing out mercury from the dental sector. The workshop was conducted in association with India Dental Association (IDA), Madras Branch at Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, Chennai. Major focus of the workshop was to initiate discussions among the dental fraternity regarding mercury management in this sector and its harmful impacts on susceptible population like children and pregnant women.

Around 60-70 participants including dental students, dental practitioners, college professors and other IDA representatives attended the workshop. Some of the prominent speakers were Dr. Vidyaa Hari Iyer, President of IDA, Madras branch, Prof. Vidhya Venugopal from Department of Environmental Health & Egineering, Ramachandra University, Chennai, and Mr. Satish Sinha, Associate Director of Toxics Link. During the workshop Mr. Mohit Bhatia, Programme Officer at Toxics Link, shared the outcomes of the survey conducted by Toxics Link.
