Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants

The seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) (SC COP7) was convened from 4-15 May in Geneva, Switzerland. Over 1000 participants attended the meeting which focused upon convention specific issues such as the listing of new chemicals under the Stockholm Convention. 

Some of the key outcome of the meeting were:

  •  HCBD and PCN listed in Annex A & C as new POPs in Stockholm Convention without any exemption.
  •  PCP and its salts & esters listed in Annex B with specific exemptions for the production and use for utility poles and cross arms for a minimum period of ten years.
