E-waste: Government grant opens door for precious-metal recovery

The Government has allocated £600,000 to help develop Britain's first 'plasma facility' which will recover gold, silver and platinum from electronic waste.  In the next five years, electronic goods containing £1bn of precious metals will be sold in the UK. That includes more than 600 tonnes of silver, more than 30 tonnes of gold, and more than three tonnes of platinum group metals.
