New EU laws on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU) that came into force on 14 February this year, demand that countries recycle at least 45 per cent of their e-waste, with an ambitious collections target of 85 per cent of WEEE generated to be separately collected from 2019 onwards.
