Source: Waste Management World, US, Date: , 2014
The unregulated burning of waste globally is
pumping far more pollution into the atmosphere than shown by official records,
according to a new study led by the National Center for Atmospheric Research
(NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado.
NCAR researchers estimated that more than 40%
of the world’s waste is burned in such fires, emitting gases and particles that
can substantially affect human health and climate change.
