Generating energy from solid waste uphill task: Experts

The move to generate energy  from solid waste may fail to meet the target as over 40 per cent of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in Delhi is organic which is of no use in the production of energy from waste, according to experts. At present, the national Capital has three waste-to-energy plants established on the sanitary land fill sites. The three plants in Delhi are located at Okhla, Gazipur and  Narela. However, only Okhla Waste to Energy plant is functional and it generates 16 Mega Watt of electricity from1,950 metric-tones of waste per day.
