Climate Action: India to spell out broad contour of its INDC on Monday; Prime Minister reviews the process

India will on Monday throw some light on the broad contour of its upcoming 'climate action plan' which the country would submit to the UN body on climate change in September. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday discussed finer details of the plan with concerned officials and ministers and asked them to strictly adhere to the country's priorities including eradication of poverty and to enable energy access to all its deprived citizens. The 'climate action plan' - called Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) in climate talks jargon - is the country's voluntary pledge which it will eventually take up as its post-2020 contribution to fight the global challenge of climate change.
