Arsenic toxicity exceeds WHO limit by nearly 8 times in Gomti, reveals study

Gomti, which is considered to be the lifeline of Lucknow and for its citizens, is now in grip of Arsenic contamination. And if the findings of a research article are to be believed, then the level of Arsenic toxicity in this river (in Lucknow) exceeds twice the permissible limit set by the World Health Organisation (0.01 mg/litre). The problem assumes an alarming proportion, as at one location, the quantum of Arsenic toxicity touches almost 8 times the permissible limit. In all, 15 locations were used for Arsenic testing.
