Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday
air pollution is killing 80 people every day in the capital. In a written reply
in Rajya Sabha, Javadekar said respirable particulate matter or PM 2.5 is one
of the factors responsible for morbidity and premature deaths. "An recent
international study has claimed that foul air is killing up to 80 people a day
in Delhi. The number of premature deaths given in the study is based on the
constructive estimates and extrapolations of data," he said.
