Toxic air kills 80 daily in Delhi: Javadekar

Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday air pollution is killing 80 people every day in the capital. In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Javadekar said respirable particulate matter or PM 2.5 is one of the factors responsible for morbidity and premature deaths. "An recent international study has claimed that foul air is killing up to 80 people a day in Delhi. The number of premature deaths given in the study is based on the constructive estimates and extrapolations of data," he said.
