100 scientists visit EDMC’s Waste-To-Energy plant

On the occasion on World Environment Day, a delegation of 100 scientists of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Friday visited EDMC’s waste-to-energy plant at Ghazipur. The Waste-to-Energy plant is being constructed to provide a scientific solution to address the current dumping of waste at Ghazipur landfill site. The Corporation officials said that nearly one lakh tonnes of mixed solid waste isdisposed at landfill per month. Average landfill gas, comprising methane about 28 per cent by volume, collection is about 127 metric cube which is flared at the site by GAIL (India) Ltd. IL&FS plant is also being set up and installed to process 1,300 TPD and to generate 12 MW of green power.
