Stop use of fresh water to save river: NGT panel

An expert committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has suggested that use of fresh water should be prohibited and made an offence so that a minimum ecological flow can be maintained in Yamuna.This is one of the many suggestions that the committee headed by Shashi Shekhar, secretary in the ministry of water resources has suggested. Now the committee is also holding meetings with the state governments of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi to at what should be the optimum ecological flow in the river and how it can be ensured.
