Two new projects for reducing Yamuna pollution: Government

Two projects have been sanctioned in Sonepat and Panipat towns at a cost of Rs 217.87 crore for abating pollution of river Yamuna, Rajya Sabha was informed today.  In his reply, Minister of State for Water Resources Sanwar Lal Jat said that the main project components include construction of new sewage treatment plants (STPs) of 70 mld capacity and rehabilitation of existing STPs of 75 mld capacity. The projects are being implemented by Public Health Engineering Department, Haryana, he added.
