The Delhi government’s Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD) is gearing up to do its own bit towards reducing pollution in the Yamuna. The Supplementary drain, one of the three major drains in the Capital, now has a 12-feet high concrete boundary wall being constructed along its 40-km route from Wazirabad to Mukarba Chowk. The drain route is also being beautified with plants and trees, department officials said. “The idea behind the initiative is to stop people from throwing household garbage and other waste directly into the drain, which ultimately empties into the Yamuna,” Development minister Raj Kumar Chauhan told .
