Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday
criticized the Delhi government for delaying the submission of an action plan
on air pollution, sewage treatment and solid waste management. He also asserted
that the state has to act to tackle these problems. He said the Centre had held
three meetings with the state government where actions to be taken to address
these issues were discussed and timelines decided. But the latter is reportedly
still sitting on the plan that will be crucial in improving air quality in the
city. Javadekar said he would reserve his comments till Wednesday as Tuesday
was the deadline for the submission of the plan.
