Ghazipur plant fuels toxic alarm with its 5 million tonnes of garbage

Delhi's second plant that will turn waste into energy is set to commence operations within a month. However, concerns remain about how the Ghazipur unit would dispose Refuse Derived Fuel and mitigate emissions. The plant will utilise the adjoining Ghazipur landfill site’s 5 million tonnes of garbage to generate 12 MW of power very day. elhi’s other plant in Okhla is already in the eye of a storm with residents complaining of ash and fumes emanating from it.


A spokesperson at IL&FS Environmental Infrastructure & Services Ltd (IEISL) that has built the plant, said: “The fuel preparation RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) section is completed and fully functional.
