Scrap Rajghat power plant, utilities tell government

Addressing serious concerns over high pollution levels, ageing and costly power generation, multiple power utilities in the capital and the State Load Dispatch Centre have recommended that the Delhi government permanently shut down the Rajghat power plant. The centre, which has the discoms and transmission firms among members, has recommended the total closure of the 26-year-old power station, citing “environmental issue” and the plant’s failure to deliver the required capacity of the power leading to higher power cost.
