MPCB should inspect polluting industries’

District collector Rajaram Mane has asked the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to take stern action against the "polluting" industries and sugar factories without hesitation. On Friday, Mane told MPCB officers to warn these industries and factories not to make the district collectorate responsible for every case of pollution. Recently, agitators attacked AVH Chemicals Private Ltd's plant at Halkarni MIDC in Chandgad taluka. In May 2013, the agitators had also vandalized the collector's office demanding closure of the plant. Besides this issue, the collector office has faced wrath of the people over river pollution.
