How much waste does city dump? Corpn to figure out

The city corporation will soon commission a study to assess how much garbage has been dumped in the two landfillsKodungaiyur and Pallikaranai.This will be the first time the civic body is compiling data to understand the quantity and type of waste generated. This, officials said, will help them to take up remediation measures before closing the yards. Remediation will require the corporation to assess the pollution the dump yards have caused to groundwater. Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA Asia) recently validated the scientific closure of these dump yards which is to take another two years.
