Source: Times of India, Date: , 2014

Bio-medical waste from these centres are dumped into Upper Lake either through public sewer lines or in the form of municipal solid waste. However, MP Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) is yet to serve notices to violating hospitals and nursing homes. MPPCB filed the above reply before National Green Tribunal (NGT) central zone bench in an ongoing petition on Upper Lake. In their reply PCB officials stated out of 318 hospitals or healthcare facilities operating within limits of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), only 251 hospitals or healthcare facilities were found complying with the Biomedical Waste Rules. Rest 67 were either partially complying with norms or running without any valid authorization.
