Source: The Tribune, Date: , 2009

delhi electricity boardFacing flak for ordering destruction of bulbs worth nearly Rs 7 crore, collected in lieu of CFLs distributed across the
state, the electricity board has finally withdrawn the controversial order.

Instead of destroying the bulbs these would now be stored, as per the official information.

The electricity board has applied for registration to the United Nations Framework for Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to earn carbon credits in lieu of phasing out bulbs in the state. As the auditors from the UNFCCC would see the bulbs collected in lieu of CFLs, these cannot be destroyed until inspection is over and the claim of the board is accepted.
