Radiation safety awareness programme for scrap dealers

The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board organised a radiation safety awareness programme for metal scrap dealers at Mayapuri here on May 6, 2010y.Sharing details of the operation carried out by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board experts to recover the Cobalt-60 pencils from the Mayapuri scrap market last month, BARC Scientific Officer R. K. Yadav made a power-point presentation for the participants. The scrap dealers were assured that the market was now radiation free. S. K Malhotra, head of the Public Awareness Division of the Department of Atomic Energy, informed the participants about natural and man-made radiation sources.
