Even as global leaders are busy negotiating for a solution on climate change, the problem of e-waste management continues to haunt the domestic industry. According to a report released by the Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MATI) and German technical cooperation agency GTZ the e-waste generated from desktops in Delhi will touch an astronomical amount of 16,133 tonnes in 2011. The business segment forms 85 percent share while households from 15 percent share of the generated e-waste.. In order to deal with the problem, the draft rules proposed to the government by the MAIT, GTZ, Greenpeace and Toxics Link in September 2009,have been submitted to the ministry of environment and forests. According to Mr Satish Sinha , The E-Waste management has to take place right at the manufacturers site.
