Door-to-door campaign against plastic goods

The Hindu, Madurai, Feb 2017: Stepping up the campaign to prevent use of banned plastic items, Corporation authorities initiated a door-to-door awareness programme in association with students of paramedical institute of Vadamalayan Speciality Hospitals on Thursday. Flagging off a campaign vehicle and addressing the students, Corporation Commissioner Sandeep Nanduri said that the objective of the campaign to ban plastic goods was to save the environment. As a first step, the plan was to ban harmful plastic goods around Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. Once the campaign got translated into results, the city would be free from the plastic scourge, Mr. Nanduri said.
