Delhi plans Special Purpose Vehicle to clean Yamuna

New Delhi, Dec 21, 2016 : The Delhi government on Tuesday proposed setting up of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) along with the Centre to oversee cleaning up of Yamuna and Yamuna development front activities. This was a part of a set of recommendations presented by urban development minister Satyendar Jain during the NCR Planning Board meeting on means to reduce pollution in the capital. Jain has proposed 50-50% partnership between the Centre and the Delhi government in setting up of the SPV. "With this partnership, the role of multiple agencies involved in cleaning up of the river will come to an end and Yamuna will be cleaned," he said.
