The Haryana State Pollution Control Board
(HSPCB) has issued notices to manufacturing units of polythene carry bags to
increase the thickness of these bags and adhere with other provisions of the
Plastic Waste Management (PWM) rules or face closure. The notice makes it
mandatory for all polythene manufacturing units to follow the PWM Rules 2016,
notified by the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change
(MoEF&CC) in March 2016. The notice makes it mandatory for manufacturers to
increase the thickness of plastic bags from 40 microns to 50 microns.
